Internet Marketing: Getting Readers for Your Site

In this video, Ramit Sethi of IWillTeachYouToBeRich.com and Tim Ferriss talk about how to get readers for your site.

In the interview, both seasoned bloggers recommended writing good content as the "Best SEO technnique" there is.  They encouraged site administrators to build good content for their sites first before thinking about generating a lot of traffic and getting a lot of readers.

Tim Ferriss suggested that you should aim to have your site become the default online reference for readers about something.  This could be any topic which you are interested in or topics which you think a lot of people are interested in.

Once you have acquired a community of loyal readers, it is also important to monitor and manage this community.  Try to prevent spammers from harassing your readers.  Monitor the comments page and take the time to reply to your readers' inquiries.
Lastly, I realized through the interview that offline promotions is as important as online promotions.  You can either meet other bloggers with the same interests, hold a seminar on your site's topic, or even write a book about it.

I hope this video was helpful.  It surely gave me a few interesting ideas about online marketing.

Offpage Optimization: Link Generation

Acquiring Links by leaving Comments

One way to increase your site's google page rank is to acquire links to your site.  One of the most common ways on how this is done is by leaving comments on other sites.  Here's what you should do:

1. Search google for sites with high page ranks using the keywords for your site.
2. Read interesting articles on that site.  If the site has a "popular articles" section, start on those articles.
3. Leave a comment on that site.  Don't forget to write the URL of your site in the "site" or "url" field.

It's as simple as that.  You have successfully promoted your blog over the internet.  If you continue with your internet marketing efforts, your blog will surely acquire a high page rank in no time.

I would like to end with a simple reminder about leaving comments.  When you leave a comment, always be sincere.  Avoid leaving comments with generic messages like "Nice post", "Loved the article", and all those unsincere comments.  The site's administrator will know and its likely that your comment would only be deleted.  And when that happens, your link will disappear and all your efforts will be wasted.  Like in real space, as opposed to cyber space, internet marketing has to be ethical as well.

Online Marketing: SEO to the Max

The Best way to Increase your sites page rank!
If you are new to the blogging world and you don't know anything about SEO blogging, after you've set up your web page, the best chance you have of increasing your page rank is through... COPYING what established sites do!
Here's what you should do to increase your page rank:

1. After you've chosen which keywords to use to optimize you site with, search google using those keywords.
2. Take note of the web sites that come out on the first page of google.
3. Monitor these sites and copy what they do!

By copying, I mean posting similar articles to what they are posting, using the same keywords as they do, using the same site layouts, looking for sites that link to them and requesting them to link to your site as well, etc.  Be a copycat, the best way you know how to, and for sure in no time you would be attracting readers to your site and increasing your site's page rank.

SEO Blogging: Onpage and Offpage Optimization

There are two ways to optimize your site: Onpage and Offpage optimization.

Onpage optimization is what we have been doing so far.  It involves choosing the right keywords and optimizing your site for these keywords.

Offpage optimization, on the other hand, involves all other ranking factors that google considers in ranking your site.  These includes but are not limited to the following:

  • The websites that link to you
  • The number of websites linking to you
  • The Page rank of the website linking to you
  • The page title of the site linking to you
  • The anchor text used by the site to link to you.
  • The number and types of links linking to the website that links to you.
Future posts will discuss what you can do to optimize your site offpage.

SEO Blogging: Get indexed in Google Fast!

Now that you have optimized your site with the right keywords, it's time to get your site listed in google's search engine!  You can do this by telling google to index your site.

The easiest way to have your site indexed is to go to http://www.google.com/addurl.html.  However, this process can take several weeks.  It definitely is not the fastest way to have your site indexed.  So what else can you do that's faster?
The answer is page linking!  What you have to do is search google using your keywords and then looking at the sites that come first in the results.  Your aim is to look for sites with high page ranks.  Once you've found one, contact the administrator of the site and politely ask if they're willing to exchange links with you.  That is, you place a link of their site on your page in exchange for them linking back at you.  If you are able to do this in a couple of sites, your website will soon be indexed by google in no time.

If you have trouble exchanging links.  You can also try buying links.  When you buy a link, you pay a certain amount to have your link posted in someone else's site for a certain period of time, usually for a month.  If your goal is just to get indexed by google fast, you really only have to do this once.
